She was pranking everyone in ponyville non-stop, and when they told her to quit it because they weren't having fun, she didn't. The Rainbow virus was their way of telling her "heavy pranks aren't so funny on the other end of the stick huh?". Then and only then she understood.

MLP had a BIG problem with how the others treated characters that were a little too proud. God forbid someone has confidence. When I was younger,RD was actually my favorite because she was proud enough to boast,but she could actually back it up with her skills. As someone who was very much not confident or proud (and still isn’t), I found something about that really admirable. Like,hell yeah,you worked super hard and now you’ve earned the right to bask in your accomplishments. But I guess there weren’t that many others who saw it that way

I HATED that episode with a burning passion. She was just having fun enjoying her famous moments when she saved other people and her friends did THIS instead of telling her to stop being cocky. 😭 As if it was a problem to begin with anyway.

The rainbow virus one I kinda understand why they did it. Sure it was a bit intense but that mare do episode, I hated so much. It made me stop watching the show till the final episode.
