Kept in touch with a couple of outliers.
Despite having been to a few actually quite lovely (W12/W1) last-of-an-era lifers' dos, with amazing reels and faces from past and present, I put my 10-year-plus leaver's allowance behind the bar at the (unfunded) Xmas lunch and left when we’d drunk it.

I'm in a probable retrenchment process. I really like writing cards. Genius.

I’m freelance so I’m detached but not entirely severed from the corp world. But I’m living for this content. The people are awakening!

I just witnessed a massive leaving meeting, 20-30 people took vr who'd been working some up to 55yrs and they got a mention a handshake , they put on a little buffet of some tiny cakes, it was the sorriest most pitiful excuse for a goodbye I've ever witnessed.
I have left a few places and had a card from immediate colleagues etc, but the best was a small office we had 20-25 peeps, and my last day they all got me a card and chipped in for a pressie and I had funny stories about me not being recruited so much as dug up from the boneyard opposite, it was funny and kind. I will always remember that and the place over all others, cos whilst it was corpo it was only a small office in the larger machine.

Absolutely no chance of leaving drinks, I’ll meet up with people separately in the weeks leading up and then just…go

Yes, absolutely. Go for a coffee with the people you actually liked, steer clear of the people who couldn't even be bothered to fake that they are worth you are leaving.

No joke… yesterday I was asked if I’d be up for creating a personal goodbye video, a video!!, for some programme lead I probably had two meetings with about 15 years ago. He was a good guy… but zero chance I’m doing that to celebrate his final salary pension!! 😂

That’s a great idea. Also just tell us few people as possible or better still don’t tell anybody.
