I might be wrong but think by “tax” they do not mean VAT, but service charge which is very common in UK to be added to the bill. You can however refuse to pay that as it’s not obligatory.

It's a very expensive place, and charging a 10% tax is illegal in Turkey. You should have complained to the Minister of Tourism or the police.

why is everyone bashing the woman? she's right..why would you pay extra for something you've already paid for! its illegal for a reason whether its 1tl or 100tl. she didn't have an issue with paying the bill.
