@littlelionsoundmi: Basta Lion recording an exclusive dubplate for Little Lion Sound on the WYFL Riddim using the Universal Audio Bock 251 microphone 🎙️🔥 This dubplate made history ! Basta Lion reached out to me while he was in Germany, and I invited him to the studio to create some content together as we were preparing to promote our collaboration for the song Loco. At the time, the WYFL Riddim hadn’t yet exploded, but Jahnaton had just returned from Jamaica and told me he was convinced it would become the next major dancehall riddim. To build anticipation around Loco, I suggested to Basta Lion to jump on the instrumental and record a freestyle. He didn’t hesitate and smash it. What started as a simple freestyle quickly became a viral hit. It helped give the WYFL Riddim an extra push, and the rest is history. The recording was made with the Universal Audio Bock 251, a microphone that has become a true staple in our studio over the past two years. You’ve probably seen it featured in many of our videos already. I’ve never traditionally been a huge fan of tube microphones, as I often find they can add too much character to a vocal. However, the Bock 251 completely changed my perspective. The vocals sit beautifully in the mix, delivering a rich and detailed sound without feeling too coloured.
