But numbing pain means that we also numb joy. Anhedonia is a symptom of high functioning deppressïon and after 2020 and all of the ups and downs many of us push down our pain so we become numb to the triggers that we can’t control. This has led to widespread anhedonia. We also spend so much time distracting ourselves with devices that we have become numb to enjoying life by using our other senses. So we feel “meh” or “blah” When I first started talking about my research on Anhedonia years ago I was surprised by how many people were interested and that’s why I conducted the first peer-reviewed published research study on high functioning depression in the world.
