@thrivewithcandice: Lilacs flowers are edible!! 🪻 ✨they’re rich in antioxidants ✨they’re known to help ease mild stomach discomforts ✨they reduce internal inflammation ✨and they’re incredibly aromatic & flavorful Raw lilac syrup🪻 Wash and remove the flowers from the stems. To a jar, layer equal parts of lilac and sugar. Add a drizzle of lemon juice. Press gently. Close the lid and let it sit on your counter for 48 to 72 hours. Every day give it a quick mix. You will notice that the mixture slowly starts to liquefy. You will know it’s ready once the sugar dissolves and the syrup turns a violet-pink color. Strain and store in the fridge! Tips: Use white granulated sugar as any other sugar will alter the taste of the lilac syrup. If it takes longer to macerate, it's usually because of too much sugar - I added a little water to help dissolve the sugar. Option to add a few frozen blueberries or blackberries to naturally color the syrup. Lilac Lemonade🍋 To big cup, add some ice, the juice of one lemon, fill with water and pour the lilac syrup over. Mix and enjoy:) Lilac matcha latte🍵 Enjoy hot or cold, the sweetness from the lilac syrup pairs perfectly with the earthiness of the matcha! #lilac #homemadesyrup
Don't take lilacs from other people's properties. They are slow growing plants

Actually, all smart gardeners know that the more lilac you pick the more they grow if they’re not picked, they won’t bloom next year

The same process can be used to make pomegranite syrup it just takes longer... and a bunch of other tasty syrups too! Those homemade syrups are the best.

If it’s on private property (or even public lands) it’s not yours to pick.
