@thrivewithcandice: Lilacs flowers are edible!! 🪻 ✨they’re rich in antioxidants ✨they’re known to help ease mild stomach discomforts ✨they reduce internal inflammation ✨and they’re incredibly aromatic & flavorful Raw lilac syrup🪻 Wash and remove the flowers from the stems. To a jar, layer equal parts of lilac and sugar. Add a drizzle of lemon juice. Press gently. Close the lid and let it sit on your counter for 48 to 72 hours. Every day give it a quick mix. You will notice that the mixture slowly starts to liquefy. You will know it’s ready once the sugar dissolves and the syrup turns a violet-pink color. Strain and store in the fridge! Tips: Use white granulated sugar as any other sugar will alter the taste of the lilac syrup. If it takes longer to macerate, it's usually because of too much sugar - I added a little water to help dissolve the sugar. Option to add a few frozen blueberries or blackberries to naturally color the syrup. Lilac Lemonade🍋 To big cup, add some ice, the juice of one lemon, fill with water and pour the lilac syrup over.
