Before you start blaming the urban planners I think you should understand the roles of urban planners- Urban planners decide where roads should go, how they connect neighborhoods, land uses, public transport, and how they fit into the overall development of a town. They focus on mobility, accessibility, and long-term growth. Civil engineers design the technical aspects of the road, such as its width, pavement structure and those speed humps.

There is a lack of urban planners in Namibia but I also think the country needs to start incorporating and encouraging more Urban Designers into the picture. As much as the planners are focused on the big picture, urban designers focus on the human experience like itโs soooo important, with things like walkable cities, parks, public spaces and active roadsides but the โmarketโ isnโt there for all the different professions to work together in creating spaces for human experience.

itโs not urban planners, itโs the transportation management in collaboration with engineers. the transportation management is responsible for this, urban planners have nothing to do w it. we lack good transportation managers!

Urban planners donโt design the roads themselves. They plan how roads fit into the city, connect communities, and support development. The detailed road design and construction are usually done by civil engineers. So if youโre criticizing a road, itโs important to understand who was responsible for which part of the process. Blaming urban planners for every bad road is like blaming an architect because a plumber installed a pipe incorrectly different professionals, different responsibilities. Please educate yourself ๐๐พbefore you start blaming us.
