We live as though time belongs to us. As though the people around us will remain exactly where we left them while we gather the courage to say what matters. We postpone conversations, delay visits, leave messages unanswered, convincing ourselves there will always be another chance. Yet life has never cared for our assumptions. It steals people in the middle of ordinary moments, without warning, without ceremony, turning plans into memories before we realize they were already ending. What remains is not merely grief, but the torture of unfinished things. The words unsaid. The apologies unoffered. The love left trapped behind pride, fear, or hesitation. We spend years mourning those we lost, rarely realizing that somewhere, in someone else’s story, we are becoming the unfinished conversation too.
