@shazigoalie: Canada now has full-time workers living in Highway 401 carpool parking lots. They're not unemployed. They're not refusing to work. They're working, showering, sleeping in trailers, and hoping to save enough for first and last month's rent. Meanwhile politicians celebrate population growth, record housing targets, and labour shortages. The reality is working Canadians are being priced out of their own country.
Why is rent so expensive, over 2k for a one bedroom in the GtA , even basements rent for 2k minimum. You used to be able to rent a basement for $700 and the salaries were the same as today. The housing situation is horrendous here it’s actually depressing. Nothing is affordable here. People that say oh just live within your means, don’t go out, eat canned tuna. This isn’t living , nobody is thriving here. Life is short and here we are just surviving.

Ontario wages are not keeping up with the cost of living. 2880 a month and paying at 1500 for rent for 1 bedroom. Pay bills and groceries and you are barley making it. Lucky for those of us who bought homes year and years ago.

Well according to Carney, he said it’s the most affordable time in the last 10 years.

My rental is going up for sale. I'll be homeless, with 4 kids, when it does sell. I do work as well, but cannot afford the rental prices.

The campgrounds in BC are full of people living. A 7 year old kid told me he had lived in a campground for 5 years. He didn't remember being in a house, his younger brother has only lived there.😭

It's an affordability issue. That it. The cost of everything is rising faster then wages. Capitalism is taking over Canada just as it did the states. If we don't switch to a socialist democracy then we're doomed to the same fate.

Everything keeps going up. There is no oversight for government spending, so they increase taxes and municipalities increase property tax one big circle. People on set incomes can’t afford the life they were used to.
