I was the opposite. My Filipino family was quiet, nonchalant, and not that caring. I wanted to have the loud yelling type of family but eventually I realized I cant change the family I was born in but I can change the family that I will build

I’m exactly where you were and are at right now, growing up around loud and big family and having my husband’s family the complete opposite. What I’ve learned though was not only accepting both parts of the old and the new me, but times where I’m applying the new me which is getting comfortable with being brutally honest that comes from love and consideration

Love this, as half 🇲🇩 half 🇹🇷, growing up in Germany, I resented my culture for years. When I moved out I realized how fr valuable it is and I love it. I am grateful to have grown up with 2 cultures. Even though I’m nothing really fully, I try to embrace it. And I have to figure out my identity because it is very split / difficult sometimes
