@tekintolmacx: I’m not sure how much autism plays a role here, but in this situation I was trying to teach him boundaries by saying “no.” We can see similar behaviors in typical children as well, although usually not this intensely. When he gets everything he wants, there doesn’t seem to be a problem, but children can become used to always getting their way, which may lead to bigger difficulties later in life. That’s why he reacts like this when he can’t have something he wants. I’m also trying to teach him to stop and accept it when he’s told “no.” Unfortunately, this process can be painful, upsetting, and exhausting at times. But when he finally succeeds and makes progress, we’ll all be happy and proud of how far he has come. ❤️ #autism #autismawareness #autismkids #autismchild #fyp

He is craving sugar, I honestly think it is related to his gut health. My son is 4 and he was like that until I changed his diet, no sugar not sweets, no transformed processed food and no dairy products and milk. He is more focus and makes more conversation now.

My son was the same and I'm so thankful I never put his most vulnerable moments on tiktok for everyone to see, he deserves his privacy and so does your son.

your son is showing good levels of understanding and is learning to respect boundaries. ..so I think the way you handle his behavior is working..He is regulating himself quite well after the initial outburst well done.

You're absolutely right trying to establish these boundaries when he's still little . I'm a ASN teacher and it's so clear the parents who have and haven't , it's so much harder to go through this later on when they're bigger stronger and more destructive.

you can make ice cream using coconut milk and favourite fruits. you can get the ice cream moulds amazon. Blueberries 🫐 are antioxidants and coconut milk is not dairy so he will be good for him and add organic raw honey

As an autistic person, I used to ask for a lot of ice cream as a kid because it refreshed me. Maybe offer him something that can refresh him?

I can do this at home without any issues, but when we’re out in public, I sometimes choose the easier option. The stairs, the eye-rolls, and the judgment from others can wear me down, and I’ll admit that there are times when I give in to my child’s demands.

Mum of an autistic child much the same so only love and good intentions with this advice. Don’t say just no. Say later or give a time when he can have the ice cream “not right now but after dinner”. Or give him an alternative like “a banana instead or anything he can have”. If he’s still melting down. Just letting him know you understand his frustrations and understand what he’s asking but you’ve said not right now.

Instead of directly refusing, acknowledge the child's request and offer an alternative. For example: “I know you would like ice cream. We can have it another time, but today let's enjoy some fruit instead.” This approach can help reduce resistance and support positive redirection.
