She's a quick learner! If you need any supplies take a look at FB Marketplace before paying full price for essentials! crate/kennel, pet stairs, safety (baby) gates, splash pad/dog pools, slow feeder bowl, puzzle feeder, beds, collars/harnesses, leashes, toys etccc ...There are quite a few listings (at least around me) selling brand new products. Biggest savings through Marketplace, though, would be the crate/kennel or baby gates! I just checked my area and saw some really cute decorative crates that can double as an end table/accent piece!

Congratulations on your new baby! One of the BEST training things I did was get some hanging bells for the back door. Every time I took my boy out to potty we hit the bells. He’s now 3 years old & still hits the bells when he has to go out.

she’s so cute and you’re doing very well!!!! a few tips from a person getting a bachelors degree in dog training if i may. try not to overload her with asking her how to sit. ask once, give her a lil min to think about it and then repeat. if you say “sit sit sit sit” over and over and then reward her, you’ll be rewarding her for listening to “sit sit sit “ instead of “sit” meaning she’ll need to be told multiple times. and when she’s just sitting and not moving, say stay, then release her with a word like “free” and throw a treat away. she will learn stay means to stay in that position and free is her release word form the stay position. eventually you can start to add duration and distance. you can also use kibble for her for training, it’s easier, cheaper, and training during meal times can also help to mitigate issues regarding resource guarding or food aggression.

You can absolutely use pieces of her dry food as treats when training. It’s a quick, easy, and effective way to train.

Try to a have a movement with each command and maybe stand- if you’re in front of her and take a tiny step towards her while holding the treat in front of her so they’re focused on it and while you step forward move the treat up so if she follows with her head, instinctively will drop her butt with the step you make. Make sense? eventually won’t require treats! She will start responding to the visual commands without you making a sound which is very useful !!Also when you award her with positive reinforcement include her name and the command she got right “good Penelope, good Sit!” That way she will learn her name and figures out that the movement is what made you happy. Some dogs arnt treat motivated but love to please their mamas- either way positive reinforcement works very well! For a “stay” once she figures out a sit - stand in front of her and put your hand up palm to her face like a stop sign and try 1 step at a time moving back. Lots of vids on YouTube-
