iv tried to jump into conversations as some one who is autistic and also as someone who has done schooling to work with kid who have autism and other disabilities. but a lot of the time i feel pushed out because im either not autistic enough or/ and im too young to know anything. one of the biggest issues iv noticed is that there isn't alot of people who want to expect change or acknowledge we know more about it and we gave better ways to help those with both high and low support needs!

The #1 problem is level 1 ASD who largely do not need ongoing therapies or interventions speaking over autistics who significantly benefit from these therapies. Being autistic doesn’t mean learning life skills is not important. I have ASD and ARFID and I get so tired of people saying “exposures are harmful” no, not when they are done well. They have taught me skills so I can navigate food and other situations. Am I ever going to experience things like an NT? No. But, that doesn’t mean they aren’t beneficial.

Even if I might think that Autism Speaks is to ABA in the way the Citizens Commisipm on Human Rights is to Scientology -- essentially a righteous front group to drive people to the solution they sell -- I am more uncomfortable with people flaccidly deciding something is all-good or all-bad without a deep and considered examination. I feel an urge to challenge the "autism speaks is bad even today" believers, even if I am mad at the stuff they think they're mad at. People who flatly declare things all-terrible often stand on incomplete truths. I don't want to change their minds, but I want their vitriol to be based on accurate stuff.
