I don’t disagree about pharmaceuticals, but fat phobia is not new, and being fat hasn’t really been “fashionable” since the Renaissance to pre-industrial revolution, where it was a sign of health and wealth. If you were skinny, you were viewed unhealthy or poor, never mind that people naturally come in all shapes and sizes ? It wasn’t until after the industrial revolution it changed to slender being the more preferred. But, I think that’s changed in recent history with the curvy and BBL phase. There have been food shortages before read up on the great depression and the dust bowl of the 1930’s. I remember my grandma, who would be well over 100 now, talking about sitting on the front porch when she was a girl thinking the world was going to end.
