its wild to see this pop up now. I recently became fearful of flying. we just went on a trip with our 5 year old, his first trip. He was a bit scared too so I went into hype man mode and just treated everything as fun and exciting to steer his mind in that direction. I became concious of how much that mentality was helping me manage my own fears of flying which are the 10 minutes around takeoff and landing.

On a plane during turbulence I blast Led Zeppelin during turbulence and rock out so I stop being nervous. I think it's the same thing you described.

I'd only be cautious in saying emotions are choices. They may be, for some people, sometimes... But feelings like grief and fear help us heal and be safe - Built in. Neurodivergence - Changes the wiring... Just be careful. There's a lot of caveats and nuance not explained here.
