@natemccallister: Why does god let bad things happen? Doesn’t matter apparently because non believers don’t dedicate their lives to stopping them either #atheist #exchristian #deconstruction #exevangelical #agnostic
My question ....
Does God have a plan for us?
If he does, can we deviate from it? If we can't, then we do not have free will as our future has been ordained and cannot be wilfully changed.... therefore no free will.

I had this discussion with my very religious friend and she had no answer and said she would get back to me with a reasonable explanation and I’m still waiting……

"They always end up as the moral center of the universe ". If there was an "all loving" "omnipresent God" wouldn't that be the very definition of a moral center of the universe?

I have been a foster parent. If God cared about children, foster parenting wouldn't be needed.

I mean don’t they say god planned our lives from start to finish and knows what will happen?!? So this was all gods plan?

One thing I find interesting is that I don’t see atheists routinely standing outside creation museums trying to stop parents from bringing their children in, while I do see some Christians standing outside abortion clinics or other places trying to persuade people to change their behavior. It highlights a difference in how some people view belief: one side tends to see disagreement as a personal choice, while the other may see it as a moral obligation to intervene.

The hardest question in faith is… “why would GOD would let bad things happen to innocent children”. Some people say that’s because the devil exists. I don’t personally buy that because the devil was created by God so why would God create something so evil? I believe this world is a test. I can’t speak much more about it specifically because I don’t know. that’s why I considered myself agnostic for most of my adult life only recently have I started to refer to myself as gnostic meaning I DO believe there is a God I don’t know what form that takes. I don’t know what it means however, I do believe in an afterlife,& I do believe that there is something more to the human soul and the human condition then just chemical soup & biology. That being said. I don’t claim to know what it is & I never would. Just as I wouldn’t claim to have proof of the existence of GOD. All I can speak to is the experiences I had while technically not breathing. Three separate occasions. Twice nearly drowning. & one stupid decision Involving narcotics. Both times I nearly drown I found myself floating in the center of the universe filled with euphoria to what I can only describe as a black hole I heard voices telling me to go back that it wasn’t my time. (yes I am aware of how unoriginal this sounds. I’m just being honest with what I felt and seen and heard while I was no longer breathing. I didn’t recognize the voice, but I somehow knew it was my late father’s, mother who had passed the year I was born just a few months before hand. & the one stupid time. I felt none of that. It was just me floating in blackness no stars, no nothing. And everyone I’ve ever known, any family any friends anyone I had ever loved had essentially been a hallucination… almost as if I was God in that life itself was just me dreaming, and waking from that dream after dying was the realization that none of it was real. And that it was just me for all eternity, floating, in an endless void forever in darkness… that shit scared me so bad it’s when I found my faith again, which was a journey from going back to Catholicism to moving to newborn Christianity to finally ending up agnostic to gnostic
