I withdraw and he gets defensive and we are in one of the most stressful moments of our 15 years. He quit his job of 20 years and we opened a business together while I'm still working full time to take care of the finances while getting our business going. Plus trying to sell and buy another property in this God awful market. We seem we can't even talk to each other anymore and we used to work so well together.

this is my relationship. it has changed a lot and we actively work on it. however the feeling of beeing disconnected is really hard. he has the pattern of distancing himself and withholding love. my pattern is that I want his reassurance because i couldnt fully process my feelings in the past. and even if we know about it sometimes we still get trapped in that cycle.

okay, so we are both like this. for years I just did whatever he asked of me. now I'm arguing back and questioning because I felt like I was unloved. and I disconnected. we are in therapy trying to come back, but we both get defensive.

These things happen, as you state, if the couple allows it to happen. Everything can be overcome if both parties have the will, grit, determination & commitment needed to accomplish the difficult things. Unfortunately, not everyone can actually commit 100%, no matter what they said during their vows.
