What makes me mad is that alot of other professions usually don't get asked this with the expectation that they'll respond with their job is their entire "life and calling" like healthcare does. It's literally just my job. I go there for a certain amount of hours a day and I come home and am my own person. There are a million other things about me that are more interesting and fulfilling than my freaking job.

I’m going to big note myself here - I’ve won to many nursing awards. I haven’t actually applied for my last 4 jobs, I was offered them. I am a good nurse. Is nursing my passion - ABSOLUTELY NOT. Doesn’t mean I don’t put in my best effort. Do I love not working, heck yes. But I have to have a job, and this is the one I choose, I only work to live, not live to work

It's not a passion or calling, it's a JOB. Only benefit is being financially stable. If I could make the same amount of money doing literally anything else, I would. The student loans for my diploma RN cost 30k all together so I don't have that much to pay. This country is in shambles rn so I certainly can't go back to school. I feel so bad for the nurses with undergrad/graduate degrees who are having their monthly loan payments triple and then some. I'd be happy if we had a functioning healthcare system that isn't based entirely on maximizing profits at all costs. Before the people who aren't medical professionals tell me I'm awful for thinking this way, I'm fantastic nurse. My employer and patients all love me, my annual reviews are always exceptional and I've never received negative feedback from a patient.
