Fatinah Hossain, a former teaching assistant, was jailed for over five years after exploiting her role to groom a schoolboy and launch a malicious campaign to frame his family when the relationship fell apart. POSITION OF TRUST VIOLATION AND MALICIOUS DECEPTION An investigation established that Fatinah Hossain became infatuated with a pupil at her school, abusing her professional position of trust to groom him into engaging in persistent, penetrative sexual activity. When the victim attempted to sever contact and end the abuse, Fatinah Hossain initiated a relentless and malicious campaign of harassment to maintain control over him. Fatinah Hossain manipulated the child's emotions by falsely claiming she was pregnant, established fake social media identities to threaten him and his family, and offered him money to drop the ensuing charges. Furthermore, Fatinah Hossain targeted and threatened other school children to deter them from cooperating with the Sussex Police investigation. While out on police bail in October 2020, Fatinah Hossain escalated her campaign by attempting to pervert the course of justice. She fabricated messages using fake online profiles to frame an adult family member of the victim. Fatinah Hossain made multiple fraudulent police reports in a calculated bid to have the man arrested, successfully costing him his employment before digital forensic evidence in March 2021 proved her allegations were entirely manufactured. BRIGHTON CROWN COURT SENTENCING Fatinah Hossain pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a child in a position of trust and perverting the course of justice. On 21 October 2021, His Honour Judge Gold condemned her actions as a "remarkable campaign" that combined physical violation with a systematic attempt to destroy the victim's support network. Judge Gold removed Fatinah Hossain from the community, sentencing her to 5 years and 4 months in prison. The court also imposed an indefinite restraining order and a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
