@dr.matthew.parker: Some of the comments to my posts on Instagram get a lot of negative feedback. I understand. I think some people have had some not so great experiences with Psychiatrists in the past, or they don’t quite understand what we do. One of my main draws to this profession was to treat underserved, under-represented, and overlooked patients in medicine. The overwhelming majority of my colleagues did not sacrifice our 20’s and spend 10+ years in training to just hand out meds to people. We are invested in making you better, invested to getting you to re-engage with your life, and invested in making you feel like yourself again.
