I’ll tell you a better way put the joint in between two rafters and then cut a 11 inch scab and scab it behind the facia joint was glue and screws

And even better way is to put a sub facia on the rafter tails and then glue and shoot the whole facia board onto the Sab facia now that’s a grand slam
