Crystal Dynamics has dropped a new developer diary for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and it gives us the first proper look at how the remake is overhauling Lara Croft's 1996 debut. The biggest new addition is the Focus meter, as Game Director Raul Siqueira explained: "When you're doing actions in combat, taking damage, dealing damage, dodging attacks, you're building your Focus meter. Focus allows you to slow down time around you and showcase some of the things that Lara used to do in 1996." Think Deadeye from Red Dead Redemption 2, but with backflips and dual pistols. The diary also teases a skill tree system, where upgrades are unlocked through collecting artifacts rather than XP and a crafting system using herbs to brew combat buffs. Lara's iconic dual pistols remain central to the experience, with Crystal Dynamics confirming the entire game can be beaten without ever touching the shotgun, SMG, or assault rifle.
