Never torque an oil pan plug. It’s a small bolt. Just hand tight. If you oil pan plug is leaking is because someone put on too tight.

only if you have an import with a crush gasket. chevy uses a rubber gasket that only needs replaced if it's damaged. Definitely agree torque on the drain plug is important.

Never had an issue with these style drain plugs work at ford they have the same type used to work at Chrysler with the same plugs never seen that style leak usually the aluminum crush washers are the one that leak

The only gasket I ever change us the o ring on cars with the filters that fit in a cup. And never had a leak.

honestly. changed my kne since I was a teen. and never changed drain plug gasket. once ke twice I've reoalced the drain plug. for $10 worth it
