30 years of changing oil without knowing about a drain plug gasket or torquing a drain plug, and not saying it doesnt happen, but its never leaked for me. right know I have a 2013 gmc acadia with 250k, oil service every 3500 miles, never had a leak.

I've reused that crush washer over and over so many times and never had a leak.

Great job! It’s all about learning, and I never knew about one-time use gasket either!

Can use a vacuum on the oil fill to replace a drain plug without loosening any oil. Great trick I learned

replace the drain plug once in a while. The threads on the plug are soft.Dont over tighten.

I typically use those crush washers twice. Once and then flip it around. Don’t forget the old double gasket. It’s probably less of an issue now with cartridge oil filters but when I was 17 I doubled gasketed an oil filter, old one was stuck to the engine, old fram filter. Backed out of driveway and was leaving an oil trail.

Our Subaru, the filter is on top of the engine, so it wouldn't leak until the engine is running.

On Subaru with m16 threaded plugs the gasket is like non existent after a couple oil changes 😂

gasket, I believe that's the same as a crush washer. So far never had a drain plug leak, never torqued one either. put it on simular too the filter, once gasket makes contact to pan turn half to full flat then it's tight enough. filter, half turn to 3/4, tight enough.
