What you need to know 👇🏼 This was one of my favorite backpacking trips I’ve gotten to do yet!! Backpacking in Yosemite feels like such a treat (probably because most people have to plan 6 months in advance to do so). This trail took us to some of the most classic views in the park: Tenaya lake, Olmsted Pt, Clouds Rest, the Mist Trail, & Mirror Lake But, the best part is that I have found permits for this trail to be quite plentiful, at least when we were looking at going in mid September. Most of the popular sites (or even to do this trail backwards) are impossible to find permits for, but this one seemed to have lots available every day! If you’re going to do this trip, PLEASE leave no trace and take care of this beautiful park. I wanted to share this because backpacking in Yosemite can feel quite intimidating and nearly impossible, and I am glad that you do still need permits to do this trip to keep the numbers to a minimum. It is all of our responsibilities to take care of this park!! TRAIL NAME: Snow Creek, May Lake, Clouds Rest Loop on @alltrails (BUT we cut off the May lake portion and instead hiked to Olmsted point and across to Tenaya) PERMIT: mirror lake -> snow creek LENGTH: 31.9 miles ELEVATION: 8,400 feet (it was pretty intense!!) We camped near the top of Mount Watkins and then near clouds rest (you CANNOT camp on top of clouds rest). Neither spots have water so you need to find water beforehand (must check conditions) This trail is going to have a special place in my heart for a while!!!
