Remember how they taught us all about how Student Loans work and how much your loan will be over its total lifetime so we'd be properly prepared when it came to making such a financial decision at such a young age? Oh right, they never mentioned it 🙂

that part that gets me is you can have a car loan with the same data points and yet somehow that doesn’t happen on the car loan it’s paid off in a reasonable time without somehow doubling “because of interest” 🤦🏻♀️something is broken with the student loan that just doesn’t make sense

make sure your loan service knows the additional each month needs to go towards your principle and not future payments. I'm not sure if they still do that but they used to. pay your payment twice a month. same amount just split it into two. it sounds dumb but it helps

i fully do not agree with student loan forgiveness at all. students benefit from those degrees and chose to take the money and go to college. HOWEVER, There is no reason for interest like this. should be 2% if the loan is in good standing. this is wrong as gell

Some possible reprieve- some people in congress just introduced a bill that would cap federal student interest rates at 2%. Would be huge, but it’s a tall order. Need to reach out to your state legislators to help push it along

It sounds like $300 isn’t enough to be paying. You have to pay the minimum plus the compounding interest in order to not grow your debt. I can’t tell you what that number is without your interest rates, but you should look to find out what your actual monthly payment should be.

Those loans are are basically CREDIT CARD RATES. The only time you could get from under it, is if you could pay it off in full 🤔🤔🤔

To be fair, compounding interest is usually taught in middle school so by the time you're college age, it had been 5 or 6 years since you've covered it.
