For those of you unaware, the sun is a reoccurring motif in Kane parsons work. It’s also playing a major role in his upcoming series called splendor. There’s something here that we haven’t got the pieces to fully understand yet but my theory is that the sun in going to be something that connects all of his stories together. The actual sun in the backrooms lore plays a major role because it is heavily theorized that a solar storm from it caused the threshold to be opened. There’s reoccurring sun and ocean imagery throughout all of backrooms and even the movie teasers. There’s reoccurring sun something going on and it’s more than we might realize.

I like the theory that because we can't look at the sun directly, the backrooms uses our cartoonish memories of it to try to create a sun but it can't quite get it

I am mapping out the backrooms to the best of my ability using the wiki, a copy of the movie, and Clark’s map. (Excluding the lower “floor” entered via the laundry shoot and the kitchen table area) I have figured out where every shot takes place BESIDES that sun themed room. I made my mother and my gf help and we have theories but none of us know where it is exactly 😭 somehow the layout of the backrooms actually makes sense excluding this STUPID SUN and it’s driving me crazy

for anyone curious, kane has said on his private discord that all the sun imagery is building up to something he calls the “splendour project”. he said that it won’t be done for years, though.
