Protein requirements need to be very individualised but I routinely see or hear of women trying to eat 180g of protein to lose weight as their male trainer has recommended this to them. In my experience, this is too high for most women when it comes to fat loss. Any protein that the body doesn’t need, will be turned into body fat if you’re eating too much. If you’re eating this much protein and achieving a calorie deficit, my biggest concern is that you’re displacing other important nutrients to achieve this huge intake (eg. When you’re trying to eat too much protein, most people are eating heavily processed protein bars, protein desserts, protein pizzas and even protein chips! For the majority of my healthy ladies trying to achieve fat loss who also exercise, I generally recommend 1.2-1.5g/kg/BW for protein. If you are living in a larger body, I like to use an adjusted body weight instead of your actual body weight for these calculations.  Remember, fat loss is a SCIENCE. Work with an expert who understands the numbers, how the female body works, how hormones & gut health come into play & how delicate the balance is between achieving fat loss and achieving a good relationship with food longterm.
