A gem (or gemstone) is a piece of mineral, crystal, or organic material that has been cut and polished to be used in jewelry or other adornments.
Most natural gems are formed deep within the Earth’s crust or mantle over millions of years. They are created when mineral-rich liquids (magma or hot water) cool and crystallize, or when existing rocks are subjected to intense heat and pressure that rearrange their atomic structure.
No, gems do not evolve biologically like humans and animals. Humans and animals are living beings that evolve over millions of years through genetic mutations, natural selection, and reproduction.

i’m actually crying wdym “how does it know which colours humans like” 😭😭😭 anyway, gemstones form when certain elements are exposed to the correct heat, light and pressure conditions. they form deep in the earth and over millions of years atoms arrange themselves into crystal structures and grow and are pushed up closer to the surface :) there are a lot of youtube videos about this if you want more information!
