Every private school here in south Florida requires mandarin. It’s not an easy language and public schools don’t have capable teaches that’s why.

And ummmm. 2 year foreign language requirements for a degree. It’s kind of implied that you should keep at it. Most people don’t because the way it’s taught. If I were trying to teach English to a Spanish speaker I would not put them in English class. I would have an open discussion class that you pretend you are traveling and just learn how to talk. I see your point.
