The luxuries I value most aren’t sold in stores. They’re loyalty, respect, trust, consistency, and understanding. Society often teaches women to shrink themselves. If you’re capable of providing certain things for yourself, remember that someone else buying them for you is a nice gesture—not a necessity. Your value was never dependent on what someone could give you. And if you’re attractive, society tells you not to acknowledge it for fear of being called vain. I disagree. Know what you look like. Understand your strengths. When you do, compliments feel less like validation and more like someone stating an obvious fact. The sky is blue. You already know. As for me being won over by the small details—that wasn’t romance. It was calculated. I’m not someone who opens up easily, so for someone to spend that much time studying me, learning my vulnerabilities, and tailoring their behavior accordingly feels incredibly predatory in hindsight. But if I take one lesson from it, it’s this: people don’t spend that much time studying something they find ordinary. The effort itself revealed how much light I carried.
