THANK YOU. eugenics does NOT occur on an individual level. i’ve been trying to say this forever now. eugenics is a systemic, social, and political issue that affects a nation or a specific group. take what happened to aboriginals for example: from 1910 to the 1970s, british colonists tried to erase aboriginals by breeding the aboriginal population out. that’s eugenics bc the colonials were convinced their culture and genes were superior. ppl need to do research outside of tiktok

I’m disabled, the last thing we deserve is parents who can’t financially, mentally, or physically take care of them. i’m losing rights every day, i PERSONALLY won’t put my kid through that.

eugenics affects EVERYONE ,, people will say “don’t have a child if you can’t handle a disabled child” “disability can happen at any time” and while yes that IS true but being born disabled and becoming disabled later in life are two different things!!! with their own situations and things to think about!!!

i don’t really like how it places the moral burden onto presumably well meaning individuals rather than the social institutions that fail to assist the parents of disabled children. you’re right, it is pro life rhetoric to prioritize the birth of potential children over whether or not those children will flourish.

Broo I got jumped in a discord server for saying this once, I said that as a disabled person its lowkey cruel to being a child into this world knowing it will only live for a day or live in pain for its whole life. There are also many reasons why people cannot raise a disabled child, it is expensive and can be mentally draining if you are not prepared. Id rather have no child than a child that is going to be in pain or abused by the system.

God forbid I dont want to hand my adult ds child over to the state when I'm too old to care for them or im dead. I've heard from assisted living carers how sad they are bcs they dont understand

People with down syndrome (like my sister) can live good normal healthy lies, but if the parents don’t have the means or or wants to take care of a child, then it’s better for them to get an abortion because every child deserves a good healthy life where they are properly cared for if they didn’t go through with the abortion what if that kid had a bad life? It’s not just about her parents. It’s about the kids too. Maybe that was the best thing for that we need to do. Even if it wasn’t at the end of the day, it’s still there choice

It might be ableist(depending on circumstances), same way aborting child solely based on gender and other things is bad, sexist, homophobic and so on but it's not eugenics Unless they're forcibly correcting these gens and there's company that profits from it and so on, abortion in itself is not eugenics, it is personal choice

its not a binary answer. its not eugenics but its also not not eugenics. nobody should be prevented from having an abortion, as its healthcare. most people are also way too uneducated about ableism and eugenics to have this conversation, and even if you think your educated, go educate yourselves. ive seen way too many people have ableist beleifs whilst believing in the equality of everyone.
