@magnus.thorne: Walking on an incline treadmill. Hands down, one of the smartest forms of cardio for men over 50. Here’s why. When you lift weights first, you send a clear signal to the body: “Muscle matters. Keep this.” That protects your strength, joints, and metabolism. Then when you walk after lifting, something powerful happens. Your glycogen is already lower from training, so your body shifts toward using fat for fuel instead of burning muscle. And incline walking does this without spiking cortisol. That’s the key. Running, HIIT, and long intense cardio sessions jack up stress hormones. That might feel productive, but for men over 50 it often leads to stalled fat loss, poor recovery, and joint pain. Incline walking is different. • Low impact on knees, hips, and back • Keeps heart rate in a fat-burning zone • Improves insulin sensitivity • Lowers stress instead of adding to it • Enhances recovery instead of stealing from it You’re getting cardiovascular benefits, fat loss, and longevity all at once without beating yourself into the ground. The sweet spot: • 10–20 minutes • Moderate incline • Brisk pace • Nose breathing • You should finish feeling better than when you started This is why I program it for almost every man I coach over 50. And if you want to actually stay consistent with this, don’t just “wing it.” Track your lifts, log your cardio, and follow a simple plan. That’s exactly why I use “Buffro” app. It keeps your workouts, progress, and routine in one place so you know what to do every time you train. It’s not flashy. It’s not sexy. But it works. Lift to build muscle. Walk to burn fat and protect your heart. Track it so you actually repeat it. Repeat for decades. #over50 #gymtips #motivation #Fitness #gym

100% after. resistance training needs all the energy you can get, if you're burnt out with cardio before you lift, your lifting will be less effective. use most of your energy on resistance training, and then whatever's left over give to cardio.

I did 1 hour 20 minutes of just cardio for 3 months and could not lose any weight. I changed to weightlifting one hour then 20 minutes of cardio after. I lost 55 pounds in 4 months. But everyone is different, find what works for you. Be Safe, Be Healthy, Be Happy🙏

I'm almost 60... 20/25 of cardio helps warm up muscles and joints so I can go relatively heavy and not risk too much injury 🤷🏼♂️

@CheyanneNM: Before is good - you must get warmed up, blood pumping, heart primed! Treadmill at 3mph isn't cardio but it is great for fat burning. Some will say cardio saps your energy... Bullshyt, I still set PRs in bench 350+, clean 275+ all for reps 3x3… after workouts I focus on stretching. If you can't do 15-30 minutes of bike, stairmaster or run 1/2 mile plus - then you are not in shape. I warm up then hit it hard!!!
