Down Memory Lane 🔵 ❤️ A letter from Najjera ✍🏾 Thursday, 30th July, 2026 The House That Time Forgot There was a time when this house was the heartbeat of the village. Its walls echoed with the laughter of children chasing one another across the compound. The aroma of home-cooked meals drifted through the air as neighbours stopped by without invitation, knowing they would always find a warm welcome. Relatives travelled from near and far for weddings, Christmas celebrations, birthdays, harvest feasts, and family reunions. Under this very roof, stories were shared, songs were sung, and memories were made. This was more than a house—it was a home. A place where love lived. Today, silence has taken the place of laughter. The once-busy compound is covered in green, and the wooden gate stands as a lonely witness to the passing of time. Nature is slowly reclaiming what people once called their own. The house now stands abandoned, a shadow of its former self, leaving behind more questions than answers. No one can say with certainty what happened. Perhaps the children grew up, pursued their dreams, and settled in distant towns and cities. Perhaps the parents grew old, and one by one, they departed this world, leaving behind the walls they worked so hard to build. Or perhaps life simply happened, as it always does. Every village in Uganda has a house like this—a silent reminder that every family has a story, even if no one is left to tell it. This old house teaches a lesson that many of us often forget: all is vanity. We come into this world with nothing, and we shall leave it with nothing. Wealth, status, education, and possessions are only temporary. Life is like a stage—we enter, play our part, and one day, we exit. A hundred years from now, none of us reading these words today will still be here. New generations will walk these paths, tell their own stories, and perhaps look at the places we once called home with the same curiosity. That is why we should choose kindness over hatred, forgiveness over bitterness, and love over pride. There is no need for permanent enemies in a temporary world. May this forgotten house remind us to cherish the people around us while we still can, to create memories that outlive us, and to live with compassion and humility. Because in the end, we are all just visitors passing through this world. Only our love, our kindness, and the lives we touch will leave a lasting legacy. #jaqs_chronicles 🔵❤️ #fyp #viral #trending #fypシ
