Nervous laughter is to try to control the very NOT funny feelings you’re having. It’s annoying and sounds so horrible but she’s trying to control anger, sadness, frustration, and a bunch of other emotions I can’t even imagine

That’s 100% a nervous laugh. You can tell she’s extremely upset and trying not to break down from what she just saw. Look at her jugular— it’s pretty distended which happens when someone gets REALLY upset or angry. She’s trying to stay professional, but she is upset.

i have a nervous laugh and you can tell that it’s not genuine laughter. it’s because things are unexpected/shocking/incredulous and sometimes floods you with adrenaline

As someone who has worked in places with a lot of abuse present if you do not laugh you will cry your eyes out and the sadness will consume you. I do not judge her at all this poor woman has saw some awful things and is doing the work to protect the kids and not let this happen again

yall have to understand that these caseworkers are put in very uncomfortable situations DAILY and are desensitized to stuff like this. this is probably not the worse thing she has seen, she’s not laughing cus it’s funny, she’s very obviously uncomfortable and awkward. She is just doing her job as she should, some people laugh or smile in uncomfy situations. And no matter what the situation is they have to be professional and emotionally regulate. Internally she is probably pissed off and very upset
