@crimehouse247: The Charlotte light rail stabbing case involving Decarlos Brown Jr has taken a major legal turn after a federal judge ruled he is currently incompetent to stand trial which pauses the proceedings for now. Brown is accused in the fatal stabbing of Iryna Zarutska on a Charlotte transit train a case that has drawn widespread attention due to the violent nature of the attack and the federal charges involved. Prosecutors have charged him with violence on a mass transportation system resulting in death which is a capital eligible offense meaning the death penalty is still legally possible along with a separate state first degree murder charge. For now the case is on hold while Brown undergoes treatment in an effort to restore his competency before any trial can move forward. The ruling does not reduce or dismiss the charges it simply delays the legal process until he is found fit to understand the proceedings and participate in his defense. Once or if that happens prosecutors can continue pursuing the harshest penalties allowed under the law including capital punishment. What do you think happens next in this case?
