Words can’t capture how grateful I am to be alive. And to the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, physios, & everyone involved, who truly saved my life. The severity and complexity of the situation cannot be contained in a post. Clostridium Sordelli is the bacteria that almost took my life. I am not a doctor or infectious disease specialist, but this is what I have been told about it. This bacteria is part of 3-10% of the female populations vaginal flora. Similar to Staph bacteria, it is harmless to you until I get gets inside the body. It took the perfect extremely rare storm to infect me and my reproductive system. The mutation I had of this bacteria causes the bacteria to produce large amounts of toxins without any visual signs of infection, which made it very difficult to diagnose. It is also very slow growing, it took 5 days to overtake me (I was at home for 3 days after my birth and was not sick enough to be admitted to the ICU until 6 days after birth) it took 6 days for them to grow it once they took the first sample. All my energy is still being spent on healing and spending precious time with my family. And because I am not a doctor, I won’t be answering any deeper “why” questions at this time. I will however be linking to the full medical case report and medical journal once it’s published. There is a link in my bio where you can learn more about the bacteria (through scientific articles) & about my journey to date. Thank you so much for understanding and for being here 💛 I can’t wait to be back to sharing yummy recipes & wellness tips with you one day soon. I have been blown away by the support from everyone - if you want to support, go Donate Blood (the amount of blood products I needed saved my life) and/or visit my GoFund Me Campaign by visiting the link in my IG bio.🥹
