@sydneypawsproject: Replying to @susan_dezz UPDATE ON CALLIE ❤️ I’ve been overwhelmed with messages asking how she’s doing, so I thought I’d give everyone an update. A few weeks ago, I was doing my nightly colony feed when I heard something different… From the other side of the car park came the most heartbreaking cries. At first I thought a cat was injured or trapped. But when I walked over, I found her. She was crying and searching. Looking around as if she was waiting for someone to come back. I know this colony inside and out. I know every single cat that lives here. She wasn't one of them. She was clean. She was affectionate. She walked straight up to me begging for comfort. It was obvious she belonged to someone once. Unfortunately, this isn't uncommon. People dump cats at this colony all the time assuming they'll somehow survive amongst the rest. I picked her up and carried her to my car. The whole drive home she stayed curled up in my arms. When I got her inside she walked straight into her crate and used the litter tray. No fear. No aggression. Just a confused little cat trying to understand why the people she loved never came back. Today she's safe. She's warm. She's loved. But I'll never forget the sound of those cries that night. They weren't the cries of a street cat. They were the cries of a cat whose heart had just been broken. 💔 • • • • • #heartbreaking #rescuecat #dumpedcat #adoptdontshop #foryoupage
