Anne didn’t want Henry. She left court for a year trying to get him off her trail …..and Anne’s father did not want her with Henry, unlike films like to portray. Her father didn’t come to their wedding….and yes, when Henry wouldn’t give her up, Anne played the game. Why should she be used and discarded and get nothing out of it like her sister ? She saw what Henry was about and wasn’t going in to it with nothing and no security. …..look how mary was tossed aside with next to nothing but a bad name. And Henry is the one who decided to do all those things to Katherine. He was in charge and nothing was done without his approval

as an anne boleyn fan i’ve never seen her as innocent. i’ve always seen her as a woman with her own agency, who caused harm but also suffered and didn’t deserve her fate. i like her humanity, personally. i can say that and still acknowledge catherine and mary deserved better

Ultimately you couldn’t say no to the king if his eye was on you…Anne didn’t ask for his attention but she played her cards and made the best of the situation. Catherine and Mary absolutely deserved better but it’s mostly on Henry. I also don’t blame Jane Seymour since once again, women couldn’t realistically say no to the king without having themselves and families destroyed

You’re saying all this about Mary and Henry but the only actual evidence is his letter to the pope but we know he’s a liar. Additionally her husband was granted things but he was also a favourite of the king. With the idea that her son was potentially by Henry why wouldn’t he acknowledge them? He did before and was desperate to prove he could make boys.

You are right don’t listen to those Anne Boleyn diehard fans, she beat abused Mary I instructing her very aunt to box her ears and starve her into submission.

I’m sorry but labeling a woman “evil” isn’t the act of feminism you think it is. Nor am I saying she was a perfect, helpless little victim. She was the daughter of politicians and the way she carried herself reflected that. Nobody liked her because she was one of Henry’s flings being taken more seriously despite already having a current, sitting Queen who’s been on the throne for nearly 30 years. On top of that, Henry wanted to annul his previous marriage but the Pope said no and so he left, created the Church of England, and then married Anne Boleyn. Plus, she brought in less conservative fashions like the French hood. That’s why people didn’t like her. Not because she was this evil, vicious woman. Nor did she have an affair. The most she could have done was threaten the kings life, which could literally mean “ugh I want him to d*e!” The cruelty towards Mary? Yea that’s expected in Tudor England. All of the Tudors, royals prior and afterwards, had a sense of cruelty towards people. Elizabeth I boxed a few peoples ears as well, yet she’s still labeled as the Good Queen. Let’s not put modern morals and our own personal biases on people and eras who are LONG gone just to justify our own personal narratives. You don’t like Anne Boleyn, that’s fine. No one is expecting you or telling you to. Not even Anne. Take your video down or actually go outside for once.

I think many things can be true at once: she was an ambitious woman who wanted to be queen and didn’t mind stepping on catherine of aragon to do so; she also had no choice even if she didn’t want that, hed get her anyway and so she plotted to get out of the situation on top; maybe she did deserve tha bad life she had as his wife, but didn’t deserve the horrible death she had and the awful, definitely false accusations he threw at her to be able to kill her. It is, as things in history often are, multifaceted.

She was publicly and legally murdered by her husband on trumped up charges. She may have been guilty of ambition and her manipulation of Henry backfired but she is still a tragic victim. No one’s saying she was a totally passive pawn her whole life, she was incredibly smart but she was used by her family to further their own status.
