My supervisor won’t attend meetings if there’s no agenda and I really respect that. It’s not even a disrespect thing—it’s just that he isn’t willing to commit his time to something if his role in it is unclear. Yesterday we were in a meeting that I requested but didn’t plan—I forwarded him the invite kind of as an FYI. He came to me about an hour before and was like, “I’m good to come, but do you have an agenda? I assume you’re facilitating this, but I just don’t know if you need me there as back-up or if there is something specific you need me to defend.” He’s taught me so much and I’m so appreciative of his advice!

Seriously. 1) have an agenda so you’re not filling space or wasting peoples time 2) think about what questions people will have and already have them answered in your presentation/agenda so you avoid the additional 30 mins of Q&A

I had an hour meeting take no more than 20 minutes. I pre-highlighted every single change and area of concern. It was the most efficient meeting anyone had been in that I got messages after thanking me and super impressed by how productive and to the point it was. I just hate filling a meeting to take up time. Mind you I’m the youngest on the team.

I’m the person that knows the issue someone is trying to explain in like 2 seconds, but I have to painfully listen to them try to explain it. I just want to yell, “LAND THE PLANE!” I could have explained it in 2 sentences. It pains me to keep my mouth shut.
