@techserks: For nearly four years, the Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) exam was free through the One Million Certified in Cybersecurity programme. Over a million people enrolled. New sign-ups closed on 20 May 2026. The CC now costs $199, plus a $50 annual maintenance fee. Here's why it's still the best first step into cybersecurity — and why getting it right now matters more than it used to. The CC requires no prior experience. It's built for career changers, help desk staff, students, and IT professionals deciding whether security is the right path. It covers five domains: Security Principles (26%) Network Security (24%) Access Controls (22%) Security Operations (18%) Business Continuity, DR & Incident Response (10%) The exam doesn't test whether you can recite definitions. It tests whether you can reason through a scenario the way ISC2 expects — the same mindset you'll carry into SSCP and CISSP later. That's the part most people underestimate. When the exam was free, a failed attempt cost you nothing but time. Now it costs $199. First-attempt passes matter. So my advice: don't just read the domains — drill them under exam conditions until the reasoning feels automatic. I've built a full CC video course on Udemy for exactly that — 6+ hours of beginner-friendly lessons aligned to the exam objectives, with lifetime access. And a separate practice-test pack for when you want to pressure-test your readiness before the real thing. Resources in the first comment Are you working towards your CC, or still weighing up whether cybersecurity is your next move? I'd love to hear where you're at.
