Khaosan Road is perfect for backpackers, budget travelers, and people looking for a lively party atmosphere. If that's not your thing, that's completely fine—Thailand has plenty of other areas that might suit you better. Calling it the "worst road" is a bit unfair when it's simply designed for a different type of traveler.

20 some years ago, it was where the backpackers went and got cheap accommodations and had amazing street food. Went to Thailand a few times, and those early times were so fun because we were young and can withstand staying in a plain room with bad mattresses for 15 dollars a day, we met so many interesting people that we ended up traveling with and are still friends to this day, I think tourist places change over time, it becomes more commercialized and less charming, it’s happened to so many places that used to be so cool to visit like Phuket- those full moon parties/raves at the beach in the 2000’s were iconic, I’m sure it’s not the same anymore

If you don’t like it, don’t go there. As a young college kid backpacking Southeast Asia, Khoa San Road was the first area of Bangkok that I ever saw and I absolutely loved it! Still do.

A single spot in Thailand does not represent the entirety of Thailand. I personally love Thailand.. the people are phenomenal. The food is unbelievable. The entertainment is next level.

Our trip ended up in Bangkok last. We had so much fun. Bars, food, hooka lounge, clubs. We partied all night. It was great.

If that road is the first thing you’ve seen in Thailand, you are traveling, totally wrong. I have been to 102 countries and currently live in Thailand and I’ve only been to that road twice because friends wanted me to go on a night owl
