I dont understand. why not just by a Woodruff key. you spent more money on sand paper, that yellow chewing gum and fuel heating the tin or led or whatever it was than the price of a new key and the gas to drive to the store and back.

The keyway is not designed to keep the flywheel from rotating. It’s designed to make sure the flywheel lines up relative to the shaft the same way every time. The jam fit of the flywheel on the taper shaft holds it in place.
