Dani.m.Heneghan :
There’s no such thing as a perfectly equal relationship where both people contribute 50/50 all the time. Marriage tends to ebb and flow. At different stages, one partner may carry more of the responsibilities at home, with the children, emotionally, or financially. Sometimes it might feel like 70/30, other times 10/90. The key is that over time, you support each other through different seasons of life. When one person is struggling, the other steps up, and when circumstances change, those roles can reverse.

I think there needs to be a distinction here. If we’re talking about control, coercion, abxxse, or women being silenced and forced into roles against their will, then yes, that’s wrong and awful. But that’s not what traditional Christianity teaches. When we look at what the Bible describes, the husband is called to love his wife sacrificially, just as Christ loved the Church, not to dominate or mistreat her. Many Christian women choose to embrace more traditional roles within marriage and family life because of their faith and personal convictions. That is their choice, and there’s nothing inherently evil about it. A woman choosing to focus on raising children, caring for the home, or supporting her husband’s leadership is no more wrong than a woman choosing a career. Both are valid choices when made freely. I think it’s unfair to automatically portray traditional Christian marriage as oppressive or bad. There are certainly unhealthy relationships that misuse these ideas, but a healthy relationship is meant to be based on mutual love, respect, sacrifice, and care…not fear, control, or treating women as less valuable than men. ❤️
