@whathappensnow.co: How to choose a career path when you don't know what you want to do This comes up in my DMs, in career coaching, in workshops ALL THE TIME and this is always the career advice I give. Stop trying to choose a career, because you don't know who you will be in 40 years. The pressure to choose a career path that you'll want to do forever is enormous and obviously you end up terrified of choosing the wrong thing. It makes this choice feel like hugely high stakes. As a career coach, I am all about action and so to help you break the decision paralysis and start to take action, we aim to just get a job (I know "just" is hard in this job market). And doing that, swap the criteria from "can I see myself doing this forever" to being "does it do one these two criteria". If it does, it might be worth giving a go and as a result of taking that action, you're going to learn what it might look like to build a career that works for you. PS.
