I've been living and working in Romania for more than four years and have never had such an experience. In fact, compared to many other European countries, Romania is much safer. The guy was just unlucky.

Besides the fact that we almost never hear about people getting ruffied in Romania, if that would have happened to a foreigner, and more than that to somebody that is also known internationally, it would have been all over the news!! No news about it! If 2 drunks are in a fight in in some small village it will be on the news! Romania is one of the safest countries in Europe!
