Well when you paid you get the T-Shirt and sponsor Gifts (depends on the race) but most important it gives you the ability to run on an closed road that will usually be filled with cars, and the Medal and banana at the end which is nice! The part of the organizer to closed the road and have Hydrate Stations it’s like the most expensive part but it’s actually good. (I know the video it’s just a joke)

Also sign up fees help pay for permits, safety personnel, supplies at aid stations etc. Bandit running a race is stealing and takes away resources and possibly in race medical services from paying participants.
