@mii_rain: Last man standing 💔 The Story Behind the Photo The man in the photo is Konstantin Pronin, a World War II veteran from Belarus. Konstantin Pronin and his old war buddies from the Soviet Red Army had a tradition every year on Victory Day. They would go to Moscow meet at the spot, in Gorky Park and celebrate that they made it through the war together. Over time Konstantin Pronin and his friends got older and the group got smaller. In 2011 Konstantin Pronin went to Moscow like he always did. He put on his suit pinned his Konstantin Pronin medals to his chest bought some flowers and went to the meeting spot. He sat on a bench. Waited for his friends but nobody showed up. Konstantin Pronin was 86 years old. He realized that all his friends had passed away. He was the one left from his squad. So Konstantin Pronin decided to march in the parade by himself. As he walked down the street with a balloon and his flowers the crowd realized who Konstantin Pronin was. They started clapping for him and cheering. Konstantin Pronin was sad because he missed his friends. He was also happy because so many people cared about him. That is the moment when the photo was taken when Konstantin Pronin stopped to wipe his tears. Follow @Mii_Rain for daily content. 🪖 #miirain #History #ww2 #ww1
