@catekittlitz: A Guide to Third Spaces in Halifax, Nova Scotia There’s a term for places like this: third spaces. They’re the spaces that exist outside of home and work. And while they might seem small — a café, a park bench, a local bookstore — they shape the rhythm of a community. Third spaces: - act as community hubs, encouraging social interaction and helping combat loneliness - are inclusive; promoting equality, and where status is less important than belonging - are open to public; acting as an accessible, neutral space - aid in developing soft skills, like collaboration; and provide breaks from work & home stressors Halifax was our first introduction to Nova Scotia before we decided to call this province home. Its third spaces feel especially alive: the city is walkable, full of history, and the value of community is understood. We love its cozy vibe and welcoming spirit, and are always grateful when we get to spend more time here. 📍 Our Halifax Third Spaces Itinerary Stay: Thursday, Downtown: coffee lunch Province House Legislative Library, dinner Friday, Downtown to North End: breakfast at The Arms, coffee agricolastreetbooks, drinks dinner in Saturday, Waterfront: Halifax Waterfront and a visit to
