When I watch this as a kid I definitely didn’t comprehend how serious it was but as I got older I so appreciate how unapologetic this film is!

when I was a teenager I had it recorded on VCR and watched it non stop for weeks as background noise. And I never really noticed your observation, but this is so true. She seems shy and awkward, which I identified with at the time, but she does sit firmly in her life’s driving seat and I wish I noticed that earlier, as a teen I saw it as Johnny driving her actions but trully he was just a catalyst
