Justice was given a bit of a clear definition in book 4. Here, justice was looked at in two shapes: societal justice and personal justice. Each was looked at independently, Societal justice was said to be that where everyone played their part in the well-being of the society, and they achieved this through the idea of a just city they created in a scenario. For personal justice, this was said to be achieved or be the result of a person harnessing their inner self, that is, controlling one's desires like desire for sex, money, food and so on and so forth. so, the two questions of what is justice and who is a just person were all answered in book 4 of the Republic, by looking at two broad spectra of justice in the names of societal and personal justice.
